Role Overview
The Head – IT will be responsible for leading the organization’s technology strategy with a strong focus on application design, development, integration, and vendor management. This role ensures that IT systems support business growth, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation initiatives in the insurance broking domain.
Key Responsibilities
1. IT Strategy & Leadership
- Define and implement the overall IT roadmap aligned with business goals.
- Drive digital transformation initiatives across broking operations, CRM, underwriting, and claims systems.
- Lead and mentor the IT team, fostering innovation and high performance.
2. Application Design & Development
- Oversee end-to-end application lifecycle management (design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance).
- Ensure scalable, secure, and high-performance architecture for insurance platforms.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Manage integrations with insurers, third-party APIs, and regulatory systems.
- Promote use of modern technologies (cloud, microservices, APIs, automation).
3. Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard IT vendors and technology partners.
- Manage vendor contracts, SLAs, and performance metrics.
- Ensure timely delivery and quality of outsourced development and support services.
- Negotiate pricing, renewals, and ensure cost optimization.
- Build strong relationships with strategic technology partners.
4. IT Operations & Infrastructure Oversight
- Ensure high availability, security, and performance of IT systems.
- Oversee infrastructure, networks, cloud environments, and data centers (if applicable).
- Implement disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP).
5. Information Security & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (IRDAI guidelines, data protection laws).
- Implement cybersecurity frameworks, risk assessments, and audits.
- Maintain data privacy, integrity, and governance standards.
6. Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with leadership, business heads, and external partners.
- Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates on IT performance, risks, and project progress.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in application architecture & development frameworks
- Experience in insurance broking / BFSI domain (preferred)
- Proven track record in vendor management & outsourcing models
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), APIs, and integrations
- Strong understanding of IT governance, cybersecurity, and compliance
- Leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
- MBA (preferred but not mandatory)
